I only leave reviews for products if they are really good or really bad. This iPad case is perfect. You may think that is exaggerating a little, but I honestly cannot think of one thing I would change about this case. It is elegant, VERY slim, and very secure. It may not provide the best protection on the open edges, but I am not one to toss my iPad around, and I prefer a slimmer form factor over bullet-proof protection.
The price of this thing is insanely low. You can spend $100 on a case and it still will not be as good as this. Take my word for it, you will not be disappointed. Stop searching – this is the case you’ve been looking for.
I spent hours researching cases, this one is great!
I spent hours looking into the best case for my new Ipad. At the last minute I found this case for $15 on Amazon and decided to take the plunge. The case seems great. The fit is excellent, the ports and buttons are all available while in the case, it is real leather and smells like leather, it is slim and you can fold it completely back behind the Ipad, the standing positions are easy to use and seem secure. The Ipad has a very secure fit in the case with the “clipping” system the case uses. For a folio case, and at this price, it is a real winner. I highly recommend.
Excellent iPad case for typing and viewing videos
I bought my iPad off of eBay (because I like to live on the edge) and the seller sent it with a free case. The seller said that the case he sent with the iPad wasn’t too great for dedicated typing. Grumbling, I took to Amazon to find a suitable case that could accommodate my needs. I had this case and a second, more expensive case in my cart before buying the more expensive one because ‘how could this one be any good if its so cheap?’
Well, the iPad came. When I found the case the seller had included, imagine my surprise when it turned out to be the very same Technocel case (the cheap one) I had almost bought! And now that I’ve used it for a bit, I may just return the other case – this one is that good.
First off, the fit around the iPad is excellent – its very snug and trim, not adding a bunch of unwanted bulk. It also has a nice, understated professional look to it.
The inside is a very soft felt that doesn’t appear to attract lint or dog fur like some others seem to. The leather-covered clasps that hold the iPad in check are snug and secure – and the eBay seller said he had had them on for a year prior to my getting it, so if he is correct, the clasps are pretty durable. The device has ZERO wiggle room in this case!
When closed, there is a broader version of the smaller leather clasps that hooks to the edge of the iPad, and takes a bit of ‘oomph’ to open it. Another reviewer mentioned it was ‘leather on ‘leather’, but the actual point of contact is on the machine itself, not on another part of the case. Again, it is surprisingly snug; more so than it looks like it would be.
A lot of reviewers have commented on this folio case having an odor to it. I cannot attest to this. This case had been open and in use for a year prior to my obtaining it. I WILL tell you that there is currently no hint of a nasty odor, or glue, or whatever. Perhaps over time, it loses its fragrant bouquet
Finally, as for the viewing angles, It has multiple slots in it that do work nicely for viewing movies, etc. As stated before, I wanted something that had a good typing angle. For me, the lowest-angled slot on the folio was not at a good angle (~14 degrees) for typing comfort. I found at that last slot, it often slipped out, which lead me to my revelation: When you lower the folded iPad past all of the slots to that large, leather clasp that I referred to earlier (you know, the one that serves as a sort of latch, closing the folio?). Well, that makes a dandy backstop for the edge of the iPad, and creates a wonderful and stable angle for which to type. The case holds up in this position quite well, and I have been using it extensively. I doubt it was designed for this, so time will tell if it wears down. But for right now, at this price, this is a viable option.
I say give this a case a go. Pretty soon, Apple will have an iPad 3 or iPad 2S or some such thing, so accessories for the first gen will become scarce. Just my thoughts; hope you found them useful!
Not for iPad 2
I failed to notice this case was not for the iPad 2. It should work very well for the iPad 1, though, so I’ll be handing it down to my kid. The dimensions don’t hold an iPad 2 well, and there’s no back camera hole.
So, if you’re looking for an iPad 2 case, keep looking. But this is a good looking case for an iPad 1.
One of the Best!
I researched for days before I bought this case. I wanted a case that folds completely over like a book and also props up for typing like the Apple case. It does both and has grooves in the case that makes watching movies great. The Ipad sits in the case very snug. I would have given this case 5 stars except IT STINKS when you open the packaging. I have had it now for about 2 weeks and the odor is almost completely gone. When I opened the package it almost knocked me down. It may be the glue they use. Anyway, be ready. I am completely happy with this case (know that the smell is gone). I’m considering ordering another one just to have in case something happens to this one.
Best iPad case out there!
Finally found a great iPad case! I use my iPad for everything (sorry laptop computer) so it was very important to find a case that worked on my lap, a desk, an airplane tray table, offered protection but didn’t weigh my purse down too much! Kind of hard to believe that this one does all that and is only $15! I purchased two others before this one that cost $50 and they failed miserably in comparison. The leather one I had was much thicker, only had two positions and got flimsy over time and would fall flat when in use. This one is very thin for leather, more rigid and has six positions, and stays in the position you put it in! I also purchased one from the Apple store that was very thin, I didn’t think it offered any protection and it also seemed flimsy. I was at an airport when I saw someone with this case, I asked them where they got theirs, so I jumped onto Amazon and bought this right there in the airport terminal! Don’t waste your money like I did trying to find a case that works, do yourself a favor and buy this case!
Great product! Highly recommended for iPad 1 users.
When the iPad 2 came out I sold my beloved iPad 1 and went out and bought the iPad 2. I had previously bought one of these cases and really loved it for the iPad 1. Last week I bought another iPad 1 to use as a spare when the iPad 2 is charging and of course I had to have this case to go with it. I use these things constantly and I really love the feel of this case on the iPad 1. One reviewer said it was smelly plastic but I don’t think it is. It really is a good quality leather, slightly tacky to the touch and perfect to keep the tablet from slipping from your hands. Forget the negative reviews. This is a good quality product.
